Startup Victoria receives funding boost

LaunchVic, Victoria’s startup agency, today announced it will provide $225,000 to Startup Victoria to run a program for new and early-stage startup founders to survive and succeed beyond the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

LaunchVic CEO, Dr Kate Cornick said the ‘Startup Success Series’ will encourage the creation of new and successful startups along with existing startups during a challenging period.

Startup Victoria CEO, Judy Anderson said we are dedicated to equipping founders with the tools they need to survive and succeed in light of the recent COVID-19 crisis. “We asked our community what help they need right now. The response was overwhelming and this insight has directly informed the design of the Startup Success Series.”

A recent report by Deloitte Access Economics which found the Victorian startup sector represents almost 19,000 jobs, with the potential to contribute an additional 15,000 per year over the next 20 years.

Two free programs will be available: First-Time Founders Program for aspiring entrepreneurs entering the startup ecosystem; and a High-Performing Early-Stage Founders Program for those with existing businesses with demonstratable traction but less than $1 million annual gross revenue.

Both programs will be delivered in the next year with a range of support including online educational resources and virtual events along with access to expert advice. The programs will support up to 4,000 people.
