Crypto exchange Coinbase expands its services in Australia

Coinbase, one of the world’s largest platforms for buying, selling and storing cryptocurrency, is expanding its services in Australia, with new product features designed to help more Australians access the cryptoeconomy safely and easily.

First, Australians will now be able to buy, sell and trade crypto easier with new PayID features enabling them to top up their accounts from Australian bank accounts.

Second,  they will get access to Retail Advanced Trading, providing more advanced traders with in-depth technical analysis of crypto markets.

Finally, Coinbase will offer 24/7 in-app chat support to Australian customers so they can trade with confidence.

As part of the company’s international expansion strategy, John O’Loghlen was recently appointed as Country Director for Australia, to establish the company’s presence in the market by building new partnerships and supporting its growing customer base. Previously the Regional Director of Ant Group, John holds extensive experience enabling consumers and businesses to access all financial services through technological innovation.

“Australians were some of the world’s earliest adopters of digital currencies and are savvy investors. They trusted Coinbase as one of the first platforms to enable and facilitate their crypto investments and now we’re elevating their experience to use the platform locally,” said O’Loghlen. “With over 200 assets available on the Coinbase exchange, Australian customers now have broader and seamless access to the crypto ecosystem.”

Coinbase already has strong ties in the Australian market as a member of Blockchain Australia, the country’s peak industry network for businesses implementing or evaluating blockchain technology. Additionally, Coinbase has partnered with local payments innovator Zepto to power its Australian currency on-ramp and off-ramp services in Australia.  Meanwhile, the Coinbase Institute collaborated on a paper with RMIT’s Blockchain Innovation Hub, one of the pre-eminent global blockchain groups, to assess the opportunities of Web3 technologies for the Australian economy.

Coinbase has also invested in the Australian Web3 and crypto ecosystem through Coinbase Ventures – its portfolio includes local leaders: ImmutableX, CoFiX, Synthetix, Block Earner and CryptoTaxCalculator.
