Swyftx announce Alex Harper and Andrea Yuen as acting Co-CEOs
The Board of crypto platform Swyftx have appointed Alex Harper and Andrea Yuen (pictured) as acting Co-Chief Executive Officers of the business.
Alex Harper is Co-Founder of Swyftx, which is headquartered in Brisbane and today supports more than a million customers across the ANZ region and the United States. Andrea Yuen is a former Swyftx Chief Financial Officer.
Swyftx acting Chair, Cathryn Lyall said, “Alex and Andrea have a deep understanding of the industry and are uniquely well placed as a duo to lead the business. They have a formidable team behind them and I’m confident that under their combined leadership Swyftx will continue to thrive. Andrea’s leadership experience in financial services will be hugely important to Swyftx as the digital assets industry enters the regulatory environment.”
Andrea brings more than 20 years of executive expertise in financial services and consultancy to the role. Prior to her appointment as Swyftx CFO in January 2025, Andrea was a Partner at PwC in Sydney and she has held senior roles across the APAC region at PwC, Lazard and IRG.
Andrea Yuen said, “Since its launch, Swyftx has consistently delivered one of the great customer experiences in the crypto industry. I’m honoured to be working alongside Alex and supporting our prodigiously talented team to take the business forward. Our priority will be to continue to add value to our customers’ lives and provide an industry leading experience.”
Swyftx was founded in 2018 by friends Alex Harper and Angus Goldman. The business was last year recognised as one of the fastest growing technology businesses in the country and today has team members across countries including Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
Alex Harper said, “Swyftx as a business has grown a lot over the last five years and I’m delighted to work as acting Co-CEO alongside Andrea. The next stage of the Swyftx journey is one of its most important. The priority right now is to make sure we’re ready to grow in a regulated environment.
“The potential is significant. We expect new crypto laws to significantly increase investor adoption of digital assets. Not just in Australia but also in the US, New Zealand and other markets where we have customers.”
Yuen and Harper replace former CEO and Executive Chair Jason Titman, who is leaving the business. Cathryn Lyall becomes acting Chair of the Board.
Lyall said, “It’s a great privilege to take on the role as Swyftx Chair as we deliver on our objectives and continue to build out our customer offering. We thank Jason for his contributions over the last two years.”
Lyall has extensive experience in financial services and fintech, including senior roles at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Nasdaq and the London Stock Exchange. She is an experienced Chair and Non-Executive Director, holding Board roles at organisations including Fintech Australia and Deutsche Bank UK Bank.
Youi non-executive director Claire Wivell Plater and former-Morgans director John Polinelli remain Swyftx Board members, alongside Co-Founders Alex Harper and Angus Goldman.
